Note From Our Founder,
Carla DeRose
DeRose & Associates Family Counseling Group was founded in 1992. Our mission was simply to provide families with mental health care that was private, high quality and affordable.
The group has grown up over the years as has its founder (Carla DeRose). In order to address the “affordable” part of our mission, we launched into the managed care era early on, and secured contracts with MCCs as well as county and state agencies. Some of our clinicians are still managed care providers. Providing a sliding fee scale has also been an important part of addressing affordability of mental health services.
To ensure “high quality” we have always been extremely diligent in screening our associate clinicians. “Would I trust this person to work with my loved ones?” became the bottom line criteria for inviting a therapist to join our group regardless of lofty credentials.
Of course privacy continues to be a high priority on behalf of our clients. We are dedicated to keeping our clients informed of their rights related to privacy. Additionally, when clients are uncomfortable with the amount of information required for third party payment, we offer sliding scale fees in order to make paying privately for services more reasonable.
Over time, we expanded to provide organizational services to area businesses, education and support groups for adults and children, couples and co-parenting services, supervised visitations, substance abuse services, family and juvenile court consultations, school consultations and domestic violence services to name a few.
As the founder, my family has grown with the group to include one birth child, and seven special needs adopted children. Subsequently, my interests and priorities have changed substantially. While I continue to be involved with the group on a weekly basis, my time is primarily spent with my children and within the adoption community. I am a volunteer provider of education and support to adoptive parents through Heart to Heart, and founder of The Parent Cooperative, A Place of Hope and Help for Healing Hearts 916 947-0371. Currently, the only direct services I provide are consultations with parents who are struggling to meet the needs of their adoptive children.
